Singapore International Film Festival Masterclass with Director John Woo
Gallery Theatre, National Museum of Singapore
5 Dec 2014 (Fri)

Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF) 2014 organised several Masterclasses and Pure Talents bilingual emcee Danny Yeo had the privilege of hosting and facilitating Director John Woo’s session on 5 December 2014, at Gallery Theatre, National Museum of Singapore.

It was Danny Yeo’s second time hosting for a John Woo Masterclass. The first time was in 2009 at National Library’s The Pod, when John Woo spoke about his movie Red Cliff.

The Masterclass was a full house, with many more on waiting list.

Director John Woo spoke about his career and Danny Yeo helped to facilitate by going through different films – The Young Dragons (1974) which was John Woo’s first movie, A Better Tomorrow (1986) starring Chow Yun Fatt and Leslie Cheung, Face Off (1997) a Hollywood venture starring John Travolta and Nicolas Cage, as well as his latest offering The Crossing (2014).

John Woo generously shared his thoughts, experience and emotions, even giving tips to aspiring filmmakers about action movies.

It was certainly a fulfilling session with The Master, who was humble and down-to-earth. Kudos to SGIFF for organising this Masterclass!
