Pure Talents bilingual emcee Danny Yeo served as the English host for Singapore Chinese Orchestra’s Fundraising Gala Dinner and Concert 2015 with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong as the Guest of Honour for the evening with 500 guests in attendance.

The evening was to celebrate the nation’s 50th birthday as well as to raise funds to help fulfil SCO’s vision of being a world renowned Chinese orchestra with a uniquely Singaporean character, to inspire Singapore and the world with SCO’s music, to promote the appreciation of Chinese orchestral music, to achieve greater artistic excellence in SCO’s performances, and mostly, to thank all donors and sponsors who have helped not just that evening, but throughout the years.

SCO performed a newly commissioned Fanfare Procession composed by Mr Eric Watson to welcome PM Lee. Other performances include a medley of local television theme songs, a special collaboration between SCO, conductor Maestro Tsung Yeh and Mr Lim Kay Tong, orchestral pieces featuring the Sheng in Bach’s Air Suite No. 3 in D major as well as operatic arias and pop songs by Chairperson of the Fundraising Organising Committee 2015 Mrs Goh Chok Tong.

The night saw pledges amounting to a grand total of $1,119,000, matched dollar-for-dollar with the Cultural Matching Fund from Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth.

Pure Talents wishes Singapore Chinese Orchestra continued success and great years ahead!
