15 May 2015 (Fri), 8:00pm – 10:30pm

Singapore Buddhist Federation organised a special concert “Blissful Vesak Peaceful Singapore” at the Singapore Indoor Stadium to celebrate Vesak Day and Singapore’s 50th birthday. The guest of honour for the night was Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. Pure Talents bilingual emcee Danny Yeo hosted this grand occasion with co-compere Su Yin. The stadium was filled with 6400 audience members – a sold-out show!

The night opened with a welcome overturn by Chiuko Chinese Orchestra led by maestro Qu Chun Quan – a renowned conductor and composer from China – and a beautiful performance Dreaming Apsaras by Beijing Soul Inspiring Art Group. 80 monks from Buddhist College of Singapore then led the audience in chanting the Incense Praise, the Heart Sutra and the Transference of Merits.

Other performers include the combined school choir with students from Manjusri Secondary School, Maha Bodhi School and Mee Toh School, as well as Dr Jiajia, Mr Richard Chia, local tabla extraordinaire Maniam, Shanghai Conservatory of Music Chorus and the Didim Dance Company from Korea, performing for the very first time in Singapore.
