Pure Talents anchor bilingual emcees Danny Yeo and Tan Li Yi hosted the grand official opening ceremony of River Hongbao 2015, the biggest River Hongbao ever organised in recent years.

This was a special year for River Hongbao – a double celebration of Chinese New Year and SG50 – and the organisers were eager to welcome in the Year of the Goat with exciting programmes and activities over 12 days (February 17-28). For 28 consecutive years, this annual iconic event has remained an integral part of Singapore’s Lunar New Year celebrations. As part of SG50, River Hongbao 2015 travelled back in time to recollect the precious moments and traditions of our nation’s Chinese New Year celebrations over the years. At the same time, the occasion also commemorated 25 years of Singapore-China diplomatic ties with its first ever collaboration with the Xinjiang Autonomous Region.

The Guest-of-Honour for the evening was Acting Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean, accompanied by Mrs Teo. After officiating the opening ceremony, guests were treated to performances by a troupe from Xinjiang, as well as a dance group from National Taiwan University of Sports.

The finale of the performance segment was a surprise item performed by more than a dozen Members of Parliament and Ministers, led by Minister Chan Chun Sing.

The guests were further entertained by a display of fireworks and a tightrope walking stunt performance by Guinness World Record holder Adili Wuxor and Abulaiti-Maijun from The Acrobatic troupe of Xinjiang China.

Pure Talents bilingual emcee Danny Yeo has been a long-time trusted and reliable partner with River Hongbao over the years, often hosting the Integration Night and the Closing Ceremony. This year was the first time Danny Yeo co-hosted with Tan Li Yi for the Opening Ceremony. The rapport and chemistry between the two veteran emcees and long-time friends were very apparent, and the audience marvelled at how fluidly they both switched between languages while hosting. Pure Talents would like to thank the organisers and congratulate them on a successful run of events.
