The annual Chinatown Mid-Autumn Festival Official Opening and Light-Up Ceremony is organised by Kreta Ayer-Kim Seng Citizens’ Consultative Committee and supported by Singapore Tourism Board, Central Singapore Community Development Council, People’s Association and Chinatown Business Association. The Kreta Ayer Kim Seng CCC has been organising the Mid-Autumn celebrations for a total of 17 years! It is amazing they continue to come up with refreshing concepts every single year.

The theme for 2016 is “A Sparkling Mid-Autumn Festival at Chinatown”. The inspiration for this year reminds us of our Chinese cultural roots with traditional legends associated with Mid-Autumn Festival. This year, for the very first time, the streets of Chinatown will be decorated with LED light lanterns.

Grassroots Adviser and Member of Parliament, Jln Besar GRC, Dr Lily Neo; and
Chairman of the Chinatown Mid-Autumn Festival 2016 Organizing Committee, Mr Vincent Tan, BBM.

For the night’s launch event, audience go on a mystical journey to discover the origins of Mid-Autumn Festival. The fascinating legends of Mid-Autumn Festival will be presented through music, song, dance, wushu and acrobatic acts – building up to a dazzling fireworks display which is always the highlight of the evening.
