26th Singapore International Film Festival Grand Opening Ceremony and Opening Film

Pure Talents bilingual emcees Danny Yeo and Tan Liyi hosted the grand opening ceremony of the 26th Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF) at the Sands Theatre, Marina Bay Sands. Pure Talents is proud to be a gala events partner of SGIFF.

The Grand Opening Ceremony started with a speech from Chairperson of SGIFF Mr Mike Wiluan welcoming and thanking everyone, followed by Guest of Honour Professor Chan Heng Chee who gave a controversial speech about state censorship and arts funding. Ms Wahyuni Hadi, Executive Director and Mr Zhang Wenjie, Festival Director, then shared a little more about the festival’s programmes.

The people behind opening film Panay then took to the stage and introduced the film. They were: directors Cheng Yu-chieh (鄭有傑) and Lekal Sumi (勒嘎.舒米), cast members Ado Kaliting Pacidal (阿洛.卡力亭.巴奇辣), Bokeh Kosang (徐詣帆), Kaco Lekal (許金財), Dongi Kacaw (吳燕姿) and Rahic Gulas (林嘉均), as well as Golden Horse Best Original Film Song Award winner Suming (舒米恩Singer/Composer) for his theme song in Panay.

After the screening, the directors and cast members of Panay returned to stage in their indigenous tribal clothing for a short chat session.

The night ended with a special showcase by Suming at the entrance of ArtScience Museum along with a surprise cake in celebration of Danny Yeo’s birthday on the very same night!
